ROLAND PEIL

In Germany, Roland Peil is an institution. From a young age, he already had a CV that read like that of a professional musician. From the age of ten, Roland began to intensively play percussion instruments.

After studying at various music schools, his education and his talent were soon decorated with awards or record productions. In the late 1980s, he discovered his taste for the rhythms of Latin America and Brazil.

In the course of his jazz studies at the State College of Music, he was influenced by lecturers such as Freddie Santiago (Puerto Rico), Martin Verdonk (Curacao), Gumbi Ortiz (USA), and Jose Luis "Changuito" Quintana (Cuba).

He settled in Cologne and that meant that he was quickly touring with big names or could be heard on productions.

Through his boundless repertoire and musical flexibility, but also by his energy and enthusiasm and his appearance on the stage, he soon made his mark in Europe.

In 1999, he became a member of Germany's most successful rap act, the "Fantastic Four". But as well as that, Roland is an integral part of Till Brönner & Band, and the rock superstar Peter Maffay & Band. He toured with Gregorian, Sarah Brightman and DJ Paul van Dyk. In the meantime, he has also been a respected clinician in Europe, a studio and session musician, and also as a lecturer at music academies in Stuttgart and Hamburg. He has played with the WDR, the NDR, and SWR Bigband, as well as the big band from the Hessian Rundfunks. A real jack of all trades.
